Prof.Sanjeev Kumar

Sanjeev Kumar is Professor of Political Science at Zakir Husain Delhi College, University of Delhi. He holds a M.Phil. and Ph. D in Political Science from University of Delhi. His major interests are in the areas of Social and Political theory , Global Political thought ,Citizenship and Rights, Vulnerability and Disaster, Gandhian Studies, with more than two decades of research and teaching experience in these areas.
Prof. Kumar has many publications to his credit, including books, book chapters, journal articles, newspaper columns and translations. His most recent work includes ‘critically acclaimed ‘Gandhi and the Contemporary World’ edited) published by Routledge: London in 2020 and other two major edited books in ‘Political Theory’ have been published by Orient Blackswan in 2019 and Sage in 2021 respectively. His research articles have been published in journals, such as Economic and Political Weekly, APA Studies, Gandhi Marg Quarterly, India Quarterly.
He has been a Research fellow at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, (CSDS), and Fellow at the Developing Countries Research Centre (DCRC), University of Delhi. Currently he also holds a position of an Honorary Senior Fellow at the Centre for Ethics, Politics and global Affairs, New Delhi.
 Prof. Kumar has been honored with the prestigious Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Memorial Award for Excellence in Teaching & Learning by Respect India and Hansraj College, University of Delhi in the year 2021. Gandhi Bhavan at the University of Delhi conferred an Award of Excellence for distinct contribution to the spread of ‘Gandhi philosophy' in the colleges of Delhi University in 2020.
